About Ellie!
Ellie Greenspan is an honors society member at her high school, earning a 3.9 GPA for her first two years and participating in five clubs. She is an officer of three clubs, department head for one, and a general member for another. She is an avid member of her school’s drama club, participating in their musical every year. This year, she was nominated for a Roger Rees Award for her performance in her school’s musical. As a freshman and sophomore, she was a dance captain for the musical and helped to choreograph and perfect the musical numbers. Recently, she gave an interview about Seasonal Affective Disorder for her school’s newspaper.
She is also an ambassador for her school which is someone who gives tours to alumni and prospective students on a voluntary basis. She has given approximately five tours in total. She also works as an upperclassmen leader to freshman students at her school through a program called Peer Leadership. Recently, she has worked to raise awareness for OCD at her school. She handed out informational pamphlets to teachers and administrators at her school, and also taught a class about OCD to approximately seven teachers. She is infinitely grateful to those teachers for being OCDareToBe’s first few OCD Ally’s!
Roles in OCDareToBe!
Founder
As the founder of OCDareToBe, Ellie had the initial idea to create this organization. She brought to light the holes in society that OCDareToBe would address. She was inspiring by organizations and individuals spreading awareness about OCD, however, she recognized the lack of individual stories being shared. She knew OCDareToBe could bring important stories to the front and not only help people understand what OCD is but why it is important to be educated.
Director
Ellie is a board member along with both of her parents. Through this position, she helps to govern the organization, keep track of its finances, and organize OCDareToBe employees and volunteers.
Lived experience with OCD
Ellie is able to use her lived experience with OCD to understand the needs of others with OCD at a greater level. She works to share her story as a means to help others.
